Now, for this week’s big ideas…

Big Idea #1: Good to Great

Have you ever been in such an awesome situation, that you aren’t even exactly sure how to make the most out of it?! Maybe you’ve won a trip around the world (amazing!!) but you feel a bit overwhelmed about where or how to even start planning this adventure!

So how can we consciously go from good to great? How do we make the most out of an amazing experience? First of all, think about quality over quantity. Rather than trying to do everything and get everything out of the experience, ask yourself, “what would be the Grand Slam of experiences that I could have right now?”

What would be the absolute peak thing that you could create from your opportunity? When you approach opportunities in a new way, you create the possibility to take them from good to great to epically amazing!

Big Idea #2: The Language We Use With Ourselves

It is SO important to notice the language we use when we’re thinking and speaking, because this completely affects our reality! This draws on a concept called NLP – neuro-linguistic programming.

Here’s an example: if there’s something you want to occur that hasn’t happened yet – there’s a magic word you can use. Instead of saying “I can’t break this habit”, change “can’t” to “haven’t” – and use the magic word “yet”. “I haven’t broken this habit – yet.” Putting that word there implies that it WILL be broken at some point. Habit formation occurs through repetition – so be consistent!

And remember, what goes on in our psychology affects our physiology. Basically, if we go for a run and change our physiology, it changes the way our mind works. Similarly, if we’re having really anxious and tense thoughts, it’s going to make our body more tense. What’s going on in our mind affects our body, and visa versa.

Another good example of NLP in play is when you’re feeling stuck. Rather than saying “I’m stuck in this situation” (victim language), say “Up to now, I’ve chosen to do _____ which has left me feeling stuck.” THis trains your brain to recognize that the past pattern is ending, and you’re NOW starting something new which is more supportive to your highest good!

Big Idea #3: Quitting vs. Adjusting

Most of us have felt like quitting at some point, especially when we’re working on something really close to our heart. It can feel really triggering and personal when things aren’t going the way we want them to. So let’s think about adjusting, not quitting.

Quitting is saying, “I’m not gonna do work that matters to me!” While adjusting is “how do I set myself up so that I can actually do work that matters for me in the long term, and build a foundation that doesn’t feel like I’m trying to build on top of quicksand?”

To be successful means begin willing to adjust when things get hard. It means being willing to create a foundation for the bigger vision you have moving forward.

Let’s connect!

What are your thoughts on the above? We’d love to hear ’em in our secret Facebook group.
